Banish Persistent Redness with BBL Phototherapy

Banish Persistent Redness with BBL Phototherapy

It’s hard to feel your best when you have skin imperfections, especially redness or discoloration in highly visible areas. But it may be easier to address these issues than you think.

BBL phototherapy uses pulses of broadband light to safely and gently treat a variety of skin conditions. Its results are so positive, they’ve earned it the nickname the “photofacial.”

Dr. Juan-Carlos Caballero and our expert team at Warrenton Dermatology & Skin Therapy Center were the first aesthetic medicine specialists in Virginia to offer BBL with the advanced Sciton Joule™ platform. Do you have persistent redness you’d like to banish for good? Here’s how BBL phototherapy can help.

How BBL phototherapy works

BBL treatments target underlying layers of skin with broad spectrum visible and infrared light energy. As your skin absorbs this energy, disrupts unwanted pigmentation and triggers collagen production, cell regeneration, and healing.

This approach makes BBL phototherapy an effective approach for age-related skin issues, such as sunspots, facial vessels, fine lines, and redness. It’s also a beneficial treatment for unwanted hair growth and medical skin conditions like rosacea.

Best of all, as collagen production is stimulated and  returns to the treatment site, your skin becomes firmer and more even toned.

While we can perform phototherapy on numerous parts of the body, including the neck, chest, and hands, we use it to address facial skin issues most often.

What to expect during BBL phototherapy

In most cases, this treatment works best on lighter skin types. However, we provide recommendations on a case-by-case basis.

During your appointment, you sit or lie back, and we cover your eyes with a protective shield. Then, we use a handheld device that resembles a wand to deliver the broadlight energy to the treatment site.

Phototherapy treatments aren’t painful, but you may feel warmth or a light snapping sensation against your skin. The entire process only takes about 30 minutes, and you can resume your usual activities right away.

What to expect after your BBL session

After your BBL treatment, you may experience some redness for a few hours, and it’s crucial to protect your skin with sunscreen. Within a few days, you’ll start seeing noticeable changes in the treatment area — and it only gets better from there.

Within two weeks of treatment, you can expect less discoloration, fewer blemishes, and less noticeable blood vessels. You can also expect your skin to look smoother and brighter.

For the optimal skin-boosting results, our experts often recommend a package of three treatments, with each session scheduled about a month apart. Your specific treatment plan is based on your individual needs.

You can expect your final results to last 12 months or more, and having an additional two treatments per year can help you maintain clear, glowing skin indefinitely. We can offer you personalized guidance on the best skincare regimen to help you get the most out of your BBL phototherapy treatment.

Are you ready to banish persistent skin redness or other unwanted pigmentation and enhance your complexion? We can help. Schedule a consultation by phone or online at Warrenton Dermatology & Skin Therapy Center in Warrenton, Virginia, today.
